Are electricians respected?

It's a highly respected profession. Many people consider electricians to be at the top of the field of construction and commerce. It's well known how much skill and expert knowledge an electrician needs to do their job properly. To become an officer, you must complete 8000 hours of learning.

If you do the math, that's about four years of working full time. During those four years, apprentice electricians learn what it takes to become an electrician. Many baby boomer electricians have started to retire and are leaving their jobs to the next generation of skilled professionals.

Working in the electricity sector is a rewarding profession because it requires an electrician to have a good working knowledge of the relevant electrical codes.

Becoming a qualified, licensed electrician can take as little as 2 years for an electrical technician, or 4 years for an electrician or electrical engineer.

Electricians have some of the highest salaries among professionals in the construction sector. A skilled electrician can design and install complete wiring systems, as well as manage other electricians. Your role as an electrician is important in the construction industry and in the manufacturing sectors to maintain and replace old equipment. Electricians have proven to be a specialized trade that always functions as one of the highest-earning trades, whether they are employed by a company or on their own account.

The same ONS survey revealed that electricians are the highest-paid professionals of all and earn more on average than other professionals, such as plumbers, carpenters, masons and plasterers. Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in homes, businesses and factories. Electrical technicians can work more with engineering systems or maintain existing systems, while electricians can be more involved in installing electrical systems. Obviously, an electrician must always be aware that his life or death, and that of his user, are at stake if he makes the wrong move.

The survey revealed that Japan had the highest salaries for electricians in all five countries, while the United States had the highest salaries for plumbers and Australia the highest salaries for carpenters.
